The Floating Garden Regent's Canal Granary Square
10 pupils in KS2 have been selected to take part in a 5 week project on the Floating Garden. Global Generation will be running sessions for a small group of pupils every Thursday between 17th November and 15th December on their Floating Garden barge.
The Floating Garden is a community garden and classroom moored on the canal by Granary Square in King's Cross. Drawing on the calming properties and cultural stories of water, sessions will combine hands-on activities with dialogue, story, creative writing, silence and stillness.
This week the pupils had a meditative sitting still and breathing exercise, followed by listening to an intriguing history of Regent's Canal, the Fleet River and the Floating Garden. They then split into two groups to do a spot of bulb planting, learning the techniques of successful planting, and finally finished the session with some freefall writing, 'Being on the water made me feel.....'
