Saint Anthony's Class read a beautiful poem about Harriet Tubman and shared lots of information about Black achievements in all areas, particularly in music. They sang Stevie Wonder's song, 'I Just Called To Say I Love You.'
Saint Martin's Class did independent research about Black Britons and shared some information they learned about Anthony Joshua, Marcus Rashford and other significant individuals.
The choir performed a fantastic rendition of 'Oh When The Saints' which everybody really enjoyed. Well done to all our fantastic children for their participation in Black History Month this year.

Inauguration of our Outdoor Library
Fri 08 Oct 2021We were delighted to welcome back the Mayor of Islington this term to officially declare our Outdoor Library open! He also used the visit as an opportunity to present pupils who had completed the Summer Reading Challenge, with their certificates and medals. We hope the children will enjoy using this quiet space at playtimes and lunch times to enjoy reading and getting lost in a book!

Black History Month
Fri 08 Oct 2021Black History Month: What Black History Month?
October is Black History Month in the UK.
It is a month during which people highlight and celebrate the contribution that black people have made to the UK. This is because throughout history, black people have been discriminated against and treated badly because of the colour of their skin.
Across Britain schools, libraries and community organisations have been celebrating Black History Month during October. At Blessed Sacrament school we will be celebrating and exploring black history, heritage, culture and achievements with the classes. The school choir will be putting on a performance of BHM inspired songs at our Black History celebration assembly at the end of the month, and pupils will also be taking part in exciting and inspiring workshops.
